Coca-Cola Supports Clean Water Initiative in Africa and 2 Other Dow Movers to Watch

The Coca-Cola Co. (NYSE:KO): Current price $38.68

On Wednesday at World Water Week in Stockholm, The Coca-Cola Company and Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor announced Coke’s support of new programs in the four African countries Madagascar, Kenya, Zambia, and Mozambique.

The funding, which amounts to a total of $4.6 million from The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation, will support sustainable solutions to clean water and sanitation service delivery for a minimum of 270,000 people in urban and peri-urban areas. Activities to be backed include sustainable water supply services, the development of water kiosks and storage tanks for local communities, and capacity building of local service providers.

Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE): Current price $28.53

Repligen Corp. said Wednesday that it has received a $1-million milestone payment from Pfizer through the terms of the firms’ exclusive worldwide licensing arrangement for the development of compounds through which to treat spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA. This first milestone payment was allowed by the completion of specific program activities and coincides with the successful completion of all transition obligations by Repligen.

The latter announced the agreement in January, at which time it received an upfront payment of $5 million. Repligen is eligible to receive up as much as $64 million in additional success-based milestone payments along with royalties on any future sales of compounds developed via the agreement.

American Express Co. (NYSE:AXP): Current price $73.13

American Express Group President, Global Corporate Services, Steve Squeri, will take part in the Barclays Global Financial Services Conference in New York, on September 11, at 8:15 a.m. Eastern Time. Squeri will participate in a question and answer session connected with the firm’s results and strategic priorities, together with the Global Corporate Services division, which includes Global Business Services, Global Corporate Payments and Business Travel, World Service, Technologies, and Global Credit Administration.
